ANDES DAY LAGOON

CAJON DEL MAIPO / EMBALSE EL YESO / SANTIAGO / CHILE

We leave Santiago direct to San José de Maipo. We will also visit the town of San José de Maipo to learn about its history, local culture and importance of it. We will continue the trip along the Maipo River between the mountains until the Tinoco Tunnel, declared a National Historic Monument, becoming a point of interest, due to local paranormal stories. Then we will continue towards to the Reservoir and we will make a stop at the Las Cáscaras Refuge, an old settlement from the 60s, which was originally used as a camp for the workers who built the reservoir. From there, we can see one of the most emblematic glaciers in the area between the high peaks. Finally we go to the Reservoir to enjoy the incredible mountain scenery and enjoy a moment of peace in the local nature. 

IMPORTANT DETAILS

Difficulty low: From 7 to 70 years old. Trip with a low altitude difference. It requires healthy condition compatibles with the activity.

Activity: Panoramic tour to Embalse El Yeso Reservoir. Does not include a hike except during the Winter season (May-October) when you could have to walk 20 to 25 minutes before arriving to the Embalse.

Duration: 9 hours 

Departure: 6:30 - 7:30am
